Israel's El Al orders four 777-200ERs

Israeli flag-carrier El Al has ordered four Boeing 777-200ER aircraft, for which the airline had recently stated it was in talks.
The 279-seat aircraft will be equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 800 engines.
In a statement to the Tel Aviv stock exchange the airline says it values the agreement at $540 million.
Three of the jets will be delivered in 2012 – in January, April and November – and the other in January 2013.
El Al had stated last week that it was in talks to acquire the aircraft. It has the option to convert them to 348-seat Boeing 777-300ERs.

Bell Boeing signs $10.4bn deal for 167 V-22s

Bell Boeing has signed a five-year, $10.4 billion contract to produce 167 V-22 Osprey tiltrotors. This is the first multi-year procurement for the unique aircraft.
The contract covers 141 MV-22 assault transports for the US Marine Corps, plus 26 special-operations CV-22Bs for the US Air Force. Deliveries under the contract will be completed in 2014.
Multi-year procurement is expected to save as much as $427 million over annual contracts, the US Department of Defense estimates.
Orders for the Osprey now total 299, of which 100 have been delivered. Twelve Marine Corps MV-22s have been operational in Iraq since October 2007.
The USMC plans to procure a total of 360 MV-22s, while USAF Special Operations Command is to receive 50 CV-22s. A further 50 combat search-and-rescue HV-22s for the US Navy is planned, but not yet funded.

Boeing reaches deal with Iraq for 40 aircraft

Boeing announced yesterday that they had reached a deal with the government of Iraq for forty (40) of their commercial aircraft. The manufacturer released a statement saying the Iraqi government had agreed to a deal to purchase thirty (30) Next-Generation 737 aircraft and ten (10) 787 Dreamliners. At current list prices, the deal could potentially be worth more that $5 billion USD for Boeing. Iraqi Airways (Baghdad) is seeking to rebuild its fleet, which has been largely grounded during years of war and no-fly zone restrictions. The airline resumed flights between Baghdad and Amman, the capital of Jordan, in October 2004, and opened service between Baghdad and the southern Iraqi city of Basra in June 2006. Deliveries of aircraft are expected between 2009-2019.

Защо ли не ме учудва новината, че са избрали точно Boeing, а не Airbus :?

Boeing gets 737 order from Turkmenistan

The Boeing Company (Chicago) today confirmed an order for three Next-Generation 737s by national flag carrier Turkmenistan Airlines. The order for two 737-900ERs and one 737-700 is worth approximately $221 million at list prices.
Turkmenistan Airlines’ all-Boeing fleet also includes 717s, Classic and Next-Generation 737s, 757s, and one 767.
“Turkmenistan Airlines is taking maximum advantage of the commonality of the Next-Generation 737 family. By integrating the different model sizes, including the larger -900ER, into its fleet, Turkmenistan Airlines can grow its fleet with lower investments in parts, equipment and training,” said Craig Jones, Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president of Sales for Russia & Central Asia.
The Next-Generation 737 family is the most technologically advanced airplane family in the single-aisle market. The Next-Generation 737’s market success is confirmed by air finance investors, who consistently rank it as the most preferred airplane due to its wide market base, superior efficiency and lowest operating costs in its class.
The 737 has logged more orders than any other commercial jet model in history, with more than 7,800 orders. Boeing has more than 2,100 unfilled orders for the Next-Generation 737, worth more than $150 billion at current list prices.
